No prizes for guessing...

Does anybody have any pictures of a carbon dash in a Chim (preferably late). I have seen the pics of Ballistic Banana's Griff but I'm having an imagination failure trying to picture it in my Chim.

I'm toying between reveneering or going carbon or perhaps Leven's metal version. I made a carbon dash in my old Westfield and it really looked the dog's danglies - but I just can't picture it in a Chimaera!

I have done the search thing to death but none of the picture links work.

Any pics would be very welcome!

I dithered about my dash for two years, eventually bit the bullet this year and got Leven's alu one and it looks gorgeous. Fitting was a bit tricky for the garage but it looks the mutts nuts now!

i'd be seriously interesting in purchasing a late carbon dash if you make some... lots of people talk about it but never do it unfortunately nmy wood dash looks crap and i just don't fancy the leven one!

how much are the leven ones out of interest? there not on the site (well that i can see)

With Alu,Carbon or wood it really depends on the colour of the interior and of the car.

The Leven one would of been too much for mine and the wood looked out of place.

Carbon looked right and matches the Targa roof.

Will post a pic of mine later

I'm planning to take my car off the road soon and would love to fit a carbon dash over the winter if anyone knows where to get them.

Nano2nd,

The Leven ones are £150, but I can't remember if that includes the dreaded or not. They make them up in batches, so you have to put your name down for one. I think they look lovely, but with aluminium dial surrounds, ali switches and an ali dash, I see it as being a bit much. Dogs danglies with black dial surrounds though!

Edited to add, this pic was sent to me from Leven. Lovely bit of kit.

Also, as regards making them.

You can buy carbon sheet from various places including Fluke Motorsport. Surely, sticking the sheet onto the dash metal board and cutting out the holes (very) carefully is about all there is to it. I know laser cutting is super accurate, but let's face it, the only bits you really need to get right is around the heater controls - all other edges will be hidden behind the dial surrounds.

I made one before for my Westfield and that looked the nuts. That was all stripped out and minimalist though, whereas a Chimaera is a little more "gentlemanly" with regards to leather and wood. I'm not sure carbon will go.

I bought a sheet of carbon and gave that and the car to my mate and that was the result.
Had it a couple of years and with my colours It looked better than wood and alu would look too much

The sheet was around £100 for a 900 x 900

Sorry off the top of my head I can't remember where I bought it from, I'll have a look later for the bill.

If you want the carbon look I think there's a better way.
Go to:

He does proper carbon fibre & kevlar sheets backed with 3m adhesive. The sheets are about the same thickness and stiffness as a business card. Will be ideal to replace the cracked veneer.
He is a very helpful guy. Sent me samples which arrived the next day. Glad he did as it was clear when I put the samples in the car that it did not suit the interior of mine. The best bit was the price.
£20 for enough to do the dash! Thats proper carbonfibre for less that the crappy pvc look a like stuff!!

I got mine from [url]Fibre-lyte|www.fibre-lyte.co.uk/[url] not sure but oggs probably got his from them too. Mine is the CSC and it has the two different patterns one either side ( obviously nuts )

Hi, poorpeet! did you end up covering your dash? If you did, can you post a pic on here? Cheers

Dave.
