Found some drilled, groved disks and going to change the fronts, leave the backs as they're ok. The company that supplys the disks also supply Mintex pads, I asked the supplier how they compare to Green Stuff and he said they are every bit as good. But at half the price I have my doubts.

Any comments?

Green Stuff pads are successful because of advertising and market placement. Mintex are good pads.

Buy Mintex.

Try ringing Alan at Questmead tel 01706 860088 I've not been able to find anyone cheaper for Mintex gear

I've used Mintex 1144's for years on my performance cars and I wouldn't use anything else.

My experience of these pads. I'm now running 1155's mostly because I have squeal issues.

1144's - great pad, soft initial bite with nice progressive friction, can squeal on some discs

1155's - better pad, harder surface therefore more responsive, won't squeal, smelly when hot

Mintex Extreme - great pad, excellent initial bite then smooth and progressive, will glaze if used on track

Green Stuff – like Ferodo when warm, normal road pad, poor initial bite when cold

I ran Mintex 1144s for a couple of years, they're very good pads and cheap too, but Tarox (XF), Ferodod (DS2500) and Pagid all make pads that have similar/better temperature performance and imo better pedal feel.

Ferodo DS2500 work pretty well on road or track but I suspect they cost a fair bit more than the Mintex pads. Personally I would put on standard discs and spend the savings on better pads.

yes very good pads!!! Used them on my 3000M Turbo for hillclimbing - made a big difference over EBC

I guess you should try them. Although i plan to use ceramic red stuff (small margin over green), i have used EBC green to great effect on a previous track car and found Mintex to be useless although i can't recall which compound this was - indeed i set them alight!!!!

Wow, what a response! Thanks, I'll do a little more pricing up and take the comments and make a decision!

The only set of pads I've had disintegrate on me were Green Stuff... Not a particularly good thing for a brake pad to do. It was only cos I was checking them that I noticed. The material had cracked on one pad and some pieces had actually fallen away from the backing plate. Never used them again because of this.

The current setup I've got (4pot upgrade) are on Mintex, and really squeal at low speed, and after a week of driving the car it's getting annoying, I'm going to check things this weekend so see what's up and potentially swap in a set of Redstuff pads that I run on the racer (same brake setup) to see if there is a difference.

FWIW, I've only really used EBC Redstuff Ceramic and have no issues with them. Like alot of these things everyone has their favourite flavour.

Iain you should give Alan at Questmead a call, very knowledgeable chap and he helped me out when I had squeal issues with my AP 4 pots. He does both track and road pads.
