I have recently had to resort to tapping the solonoid with a heavy pole in order to get the starter to work.
Is it possible to strip & clean the starter & in particular the solonoid or is it a non serviceable item?
If I end up having to replace it what is the best option? I am sure I read/heard of a hi torque, hi speed starter that does a better job. A Nissan part perhaps?

I don't know if you can see this TVRCC thread without being a TVRCC member, but it shows some good photos of a starter motor undergoing a DIY 'refurbish'.

Thanks for the info. Can't see the TVRCC stuff as I'm not in it.
