Well, today numbnuts and I decided to take the standard exhaust from the chim, and replace it with a normal looking system, but with the box opened up, and all silencing removed.

By god, what a difference, I was slightly worried it may sound harsh and tinny, but not at all, it really sounds like a powerboat at idle, and when opened up absolutely howls. It sounds better than my old 390se wedge, and that's saying something, bloody marvellous. earscloud9

I daresay if anyone here in the southwest wants 'the treatment' Dave (numbnuts) and I can probably sort it for a modest fee boxedin

bounce Fabulous noise.

Mike,

Is removing the lagging without sleeving the tubes a good way ahead then? I read somewhere on here it can be very tinny and metallic sounding. I'd like a bit more noise, but I'd like to keep it trackable if poss.

Whereabouts in the sunny South West are you? (Plans are being hatched....)

It sounded more echoey/boomy when I had the insides removed. Sleeving the perforated pipes made it sound raw like a race car.

It's not too metallic for my ears, bassy enough for me ears cloud9

Sunny bristol, well, Bradley Stoke to be precise, not too far away from the almondsbury M4/M5 interchange.

Most welcome to come on up for a chinwag / tea / have a listen....

Youre playing into the hands of the griff brigade with all this golf talk nono

Mike, glad youve got the noise you wanted as we all seemed to have different suggestions on how it could be achieved.
Like the powerboat at idle analogy. I had exactly the same thought after mine had been done .

If pops and bangs are your thang coupled to a NASCAR tickover, do as before but leave the wadding in and replace the perforated pipes with scaffold. Howls too under provocation
