Hopefully simple.......

Car won't start and I can't hear the fuel pump running.

I can hear and feel a relay clicking on when I turn the ignition on and off after a few seconds (white plastic relay hanging from the loom in front of the fuse board).

It's done this a few times over the past week, but eventually I can hear the pump and it starts.

Any bright ideas please?

Swop over the two metal Bosch relays (Red diagonal stripe) and if this helps then get a replacement or two from Land Rover dealer.

Ricardo

PS Check the connections on the fuel pump - on the chassis under the nearside rear wheelarch.

I don't have any metal relays, they are all plastic!!

I've heard before the fuel pump relay was metal, but mine isn't.

Am I looking at the right relay, or is it in the fuse/relay board (all plastic on there as well)

Hi Paul,

Had the same problem on mine a while back! Just like you I did not know that there were 2 metal looking relays which are tucked up behind the glove box/pocket type thing. You will either have to remove the glove pocket (there are a couple of screws) or just feel about using your hand. If you look in my profile and go back to "60-90 days ago" there is a topic that I started called "HELP!please ..." there are pictures in there which will help you.

Good luck!

Neil.

Great. Thanks for that. I'll have a look.

The RAC mans here and one of the pump terminals was dirty and loose, so hoping that thats all it is.

I'll get a spare relay ordered anyway.

Cheers Guys

I had the same problem, blew 3 fusses in as many days...where the fuse slots in, bend the spade connectors so it grips the fuse tighter. I did this and have not blown a fuse for about 4 weeks now.
