The clutch (I presume) doesn't seem to have any sort of cover.

I'm a bit surprised- surely water and small stones could easily find their way inside when driving along?

The metal inside rotates at very high speed.

Can anyone tell me if I'm missing some important part of my car here?!

I can't see the picture, if your talking about the 4in or so dia hole on the underside of the T5 bell housing, apparently there is a rubber blanking grommet for it, but I've never seen one fitted, or know anyone who's had one fitted! Don't worry about it!

I've fixed the picture- for some reason the Preview function liked my simple html, but the actual post needs the funny PH codes instead.

Good news it's not vital- thanks for allaying my fears!

Think it's normal, mine was the same when I changed the clutch, and no rodents or stones had found their way into the housing......

Yes, as has been said, it should have a solid rubber grommet in place. The hole is an inspection hatch. Looking at the amount of sump oil on the bell housing, I'd rather none of that had got anywhere near my clutch.

Seems I was lucky - mine still has the black rubber cover over it -I can also conclude the clutch has not been changed yet hehe
