Hi all, been away for a while so no posts recently

jut a quickie really... topped up the oil this morning, as i felt is was about time and it had been running a little warmer than usual in traffic (4.5 Chim) - up to 99 after a particularly slow crawl home on friday. Checked the dipstick and it says about a quarter above min so fed it back up to full (about a litre and a quarter for those wondering) Unfortunately couldn't get hold of Mobil 1 over the weekend, so went for Castrol GTX Magnatec (next best available) and this morning after another particularly slow journey was pleased to see the temp averaged around 10 degrees cooler!!

So the point of all this waffle... does that much oil make such a huge difference to temperature or has Magnatec cool 'magical' cooling properties??

lol.

Happy Christmas to you all out there.. for those of us driving on these dicey roads stay safe..and shiney side up!!

It wont be the oil.A sticking thermostat is most likely, followed by possible air lock i would guess.

I used the GTX Magnatec for mine; it seems to be good oil and the "magnetic" particles are probably good for maintaining the engine and also for heat transfer.

I have noticed mine takes longer to heat up when it has a full load of oil....when it is low it heats up quicker. Mind you with the temp in the north east at the moment i am lucky to get over 70deg!!!!!!!!
Very poor petrol consumption at the moment...roll on summer!!!
