How badly is it dripping? As an emergency measure you could try a Bars seal or two.

If the shaft seal has gone I doubt that any conventional leak sealing goop will help. It may last several hundred miles before it finally dumps your coolant on the street. When that happens you risk a sudden temperature rise which can damage the engine and may destroy it. Up to you how important it is to drive those last few hundred miles and how confident you are that you will be able to monitor the coolant level and stop before any severe damage occurs. If you decide to chance your luck, take plenty of spare water with you and monitor the water level regularly so you know how much worse the leak is getting.

Monitor the temperature gauge but don't rely on it; keep the heater on hot (OK, realistically "luke warm" and if it ever stops blowing warm then stop immediately.

Well the car made it on a 250 mile round trip and only lost a tiny bit of water as it was all motorway driving so it stopped nice and cool. managed to get a water pump for it and found out its a discovery2 v8 4.0-4.6 pump, part number is STC4378.
hope this helps some people
