Hi all!

Just been giving my chim a going over to look for niggles and have a couple of questions...

1) Where can I get some new targa top - window seals? (the ones between the top of the window and the roof). Ive noticed that there is a small split in one, and the other doesnt look long enough for the gap! Looked at woolies but couldnt see any which looked the same shape to fit in the runner (its a v late 97 450)

2) Is there a cure for squeeky windows? My windows seem to be very squeeky when going up or down - particularly the drivers side one as the seal at the bottom has partially folded downward into the gap. I have tried to pull it back out but it goes straight back down when the window is moved!

3) Has anyone tried to dye the carpets? Mine have got quite a bit of sun bleaching but are still in fine physical condition, so before I give coverdale a call for a new set, can they be dyed?

Thanks in advance!

Nick

I too would be interested to the answer to the first question! bMy windows tend to squeak on the upright pillar - a little application of WD40 (you can buy in a pen) does the trick for a month or so until it dries out.

Hi Nick,
You can probably get new window rubbers from any dealer or good indie, also from any trimmer. For squeeky windows i spray a silicon lubricant from Halfords into the runners every six months or so, seems to make everyhing run more smoothly and cures the squeek. I guess you could spray this on the bottom rubber as well. I hope this helps.
Mike.

dont apply silicon to the runner rubbers until you have replaced and glued the new ones, you wont get any glue to stick nothing if there are any traces of that silicone stuff around, and you need to use a little bit of glue in the runners to secure the new ones otherwise when you put the window down it will drag the rubbers with it,then as the others have said.good luck.

great thanks guys! All TVR places were shut yesterday when I rang round so i'll give these a try on Tuesday...

I'm guessing thats a no about the carpet dying then?? Also, the metal tvr badge/plate flew off my rocker cover on the motorway whilst doing 'some' miles an hour the other day (scary when you hear a loud clunk against the firewall at speed!), is it possible to find replacement ones??

Nick

I got a pair of rocker cover badges off ebay. The guy advertises regularly.
