4 litre (T5) Clutch change - pattern part numbers?
Discussion
I know there have been many threads on clutch change work, but I have been unable to find the information I am after and hope some one can help:
The clutch on my 1995 Chim 4.0 (T5 g/box) needs changing. I have been told by my usual specialist that AP Lockhead manufacture the clutch specially for TVR. I have been quoted in the region of £300 for the friction plate, pressure plate and release bearing, which seems rather a lot (tvrcarparts.co.uk also comes close to this amount). My father works for a motor factors and can usually get parts relatively cheaply, to save on the ~£750 I have been quoted by three local specialists for parts and labour inc. VAT.
So my question is: Can anyone reliably tell me the correct part number for the clutch for a 4 litre car with the T5 box, in the hope that I can see whether the likes of Sachs, valeo, borg and beck etc. make a pattern part of the same spec. (The AP part number would be useful for cross reference too)
Many thanks in advance,
Pete.

Hi 900ss (you have a Ducati too i presume?),
thanks for photos. yes very weary of buying off ebay, especially after reading other peoples problems with techniclutch supplying the right part etc.
Do you know what make your previous clutch would have been (i.e. which the 57528 part number refers to)? was it the original?
Cheers,
Pete.

sorry posted wrong info b4, its ebc not ek parts. they do a tvr clutch kit for £104, its the 89+ kit but the pates are the same on all cars but if yours has the t5 your will have to use the old pressure plate and release bearing but for thr time a clutch plate lasts on a tvr they should be fine.

Hi all - thanks for info.
v8nrg cheers for the part numbers - just the info I was after - have given them to my father who is going to get some prices for me. I will also contact RPi to see what they charge.
Luckily my clutch has been behaving better recently (its not slipping in gear anymore) - so I am hoping to put it off until next month, as got other things to pay for this month!
I would be interested to hear peoples opinions on different brand clutches, because more than one person has told me not to bother with anything other than a TVR power supplied clutch (i.e. the AP Lockheed one). But true pattern parts should be exactly the same spec. The EBC clutch seems cheap at nearly a 1/3 of the cost. I have also been told several stories about Range rover clutch's - someone told me that fitting a RR clutch would last no more than 500miles! But the ranger rover is a heavier vehicle and build for pulling etc. so should be heavy duty enough? I'm not quite sure if fitting a RR clutch is only possible with the older SD1 g/box only?
sorry thinking out loud now,
Cheers,
Pete.
