Hi handy helpers! Got a fuel tank knock when the car corners or when bounced. The knock is coming from the sender end of the tank. Could this be the sender float or more likely to be a loose baffle?

If it is a baffle, is it an urgent job? Or would a cherry bomb conversion and decent loud music resolve the issue!

Cheers, Jon.

Are you certain it's coming from inside the tank and not something nearby such as the ARB, exhaust, handbrake cable etc?

Yeah. Think so. The noise has a resonant frequency and continues for a short time when the rocking is stopped. Have tugged the arb, exhaust and wheels...

Mine does exact oposite. I get a knock that starts when it is 2/3 empty. Again been doing it for years.

Mine has done this since new. at about the three quarters full and I have always attributed to the float in the tank. Hasn't been any harm... and only happens on certain gradients so I don't really worry about it...

Think I will take out the fuel gauge sender and have a peep inside. I guess this is more an annoying fault rather than a serious problem.

Cheers all.

So more accurate than the fuel gauge then
