hi in about 2 weeks im coming to u.k to buy a chimaera, ive looked at many on net,and done some research through there seems to be a few really sorted ones. the only thing is the mileage, is it better to buy a 33.000 thats been through most of the annoying stuff, and been sorted, or better to get say a 15 - 20,000 thats older but less miles, i know condition is important with these cars. any guidance would be appreciated

cheers
Paul

Hi Paul!

Mileage is really not worth worrying about. In fact a car that's done 30,000 is likely to be in better condition than one that's done 10,000. However there aren't any set rules and you have to judge each car on it's merits.

I would agree with TA - are you after any model or year in particular 400/450/500?

They don't like just sitting there - mine is less reliable now it rarely gets driven. So I'd go for higher mileage over lower.

If you buy one though with, say, circa 60K miles which is more than acceptable, but then come to sell it 3-4 years later having clocked up 100K plus, would this figure be more likely to deter potential buyers?

Personally, I'd rather try and strike a balance and not only buy on condition but also take into consideration the mileage depending on how often you intend driving the car, eg, weekend pleasure and/or daily commuting etc.

I'm also on the look for something to fill the space in my garage! Looking for a bit of a winter bargain.

A 400 would be fine for me, so if anyone wants to message me any cars or deals they have feel free!!! I am also scouring the classfieds on here and also fleabay but want to back a car on condition, age is unimportant.

Thanks

Thanks,

I have had a look a James website and current stock, I am on a limited budget so can't stretch to anything he has at the moment!

I'm probably looking at a L Reg 400 Chimera that has got decent service history and had work done, seem to be a couple around so I best keep trawling Autotrader and the other website and of course the PH classfieds but if anyone knows of a car i should now about please do message me!

I would recommend calling James and chatting to him - he usually knows of other cars coming up for sale or whos owners would be persuaded to part with them.

This is a nice one . My friend asked me to find him a good one at the 10K mark and this was about the best .
