Is OK to replace the allen headed bolts that hold the brake calipers on with normal bolts? If so what do I ask for or does somone do specific replacements?

These are the bolts holding the caliper to the sliders? From memory there is very little access so ordinary bolts might not be feasible. You should be able to get exact replacements from places such as Namrick if necessary (you'll need to tell them the length and thread).

You mean the bolts on the front calipers, accessible under the rubber cover, holding the caliper itself to the carrier? I have heard of these being replaced by normal hex-head bolts as the allen key recess rounds all too easily. Personally I wouldn't - if you clean the threads, use locktite and ensure the rubber caps are in place the bolts shouldn't sieze. But shouldn't is all well and good until they do...

If you do replace make absolutely certian you replace with something of equal or higher strength. These bolts are safety critical.

Got some more allen headed ones from a bolt specialist, £3.60 for 8. The ford Cosworth ones are M12 or M10 for the standard Siera, apparently the allen headed bolts are high tensil than hex heads so I stuck with those, thanks for all the advice guys.
