Precat removal. How?

What is the best method of getting them out without cutting the pipe open?
Do they break apart when hit? Do you have to chisel them apart?
Any advice gratefully received.

I managed to do mine with the manifolds still on the car, 20mm holesaw on an extension bar, small crow bar and a lot of patience, still a pig of a job in situ!
