Not sure if i should worry but I was doing a bit of messing with the car earlier this week and I wobbled the front wheels by hand and they appeared to have a very small amount of play in them (prob no more than a millimetre)

Is this usual or is something wearing out?

I'm not sure whether 1 mm is excessive movement. In any case, my guess would be tired wishbone bushes.

I would suggest checking the wheel bearings and ball joints. If you have the Bible(Steve Heath) he covers this. Good luck.
P.S. Paul, what are those wheels on your Chimaera? Are they the SP12's?

Very nice look. Am trying to decide on some new wheels for my Chim. Where did you get these from? What sort of price were they?

I bought them about three years ago. I got them from South Coast Wheels in Southampton. I had to order them because of the different offsets front and rear. They took 6 weeks or so to come...about £825ish including Toyos, if I recall.

Elite in rainham essex do wheels 17front 18 rears in a few styles between 700 to a grand thats where i got mine they take orders on line. If its the wheel bearing just take off wheel remove grease cap in centre of hub there should be a split pin under cap remove it turn the nut clock wise a little bit at a time until free play has gone DONT OVER TIGHTEN THEM then put split pin in the nearest hole, i havent had to do mine but most rear wheel drive car are the same,

Just had a wobbly moment myself!! Had a bad vibration when bearing slightly right at speed. Pulled over checked tyres etc. Found Front off-side nuts all lose. Can't remember taking wheel off. Must have been sabotage!! furious

They are Ford Siera hubs and the bearings dont adjust like that....Im just replacing the p/s front wheel bearing on my 93 Chim....anyone know the part numbers..seems there are a load of different bearings fitted to the Siera (obviously not 4x4) Are they the early 1300 ones...also seems some later ones are handed just to add to the confusion.... seems the Chim and Griff alternative parts lists dont list the wheel bearings either !
