Anyone got any advice on restoring the colour of a faded leather dash? '98 Chimaera with mulberry dash which has faded to a reddish-brown colour. Unfortunately the vinyl capping on the doors hasn't faded so there's a bit of a contrast which is starting to bug me. Are there any good ways of re-colouring the leather dash?

I had the leather seats in my Griff reconnolised recently - the guy who did it said he can do dash leather but won't normally unless it really needs it as - presumably - it is more difficult ! Mine was OK so he merely cleaned it.

I was really pleased with his work on the seats .... they look like new and the scuffs and scrapes have all gone. He mixed a colour on site to match the existing bits. He is Benchmark Leather ( www.benchmarkleather.co.uk ) from Tulse Hill / Streatham Way in SW London. He came to me in Surrey so depending on where you are in Hants he may be worth a ring.

I've used Gliptones on all sorts of cars and found it very good providing you're thorough (cleaning properly first) and patient(applying small ammounts rather than trying to cover in one coat)
and they can mix to any colour.

A lot cheaper to do yourself.

I recoloured a dash surround on the Griff from beige to black using a product from Frosts. If you follow the instructions, and clean the dash scrupulously before spraying the recolourant on, the results are excellent. Make sure you order the cleaner and preparer as well. One of each should do a dash.

This is the stuff:

See 'Interior Coat' towards the bottom of the page. Griff dash took three cans.
