Anyone have an Oil Temperature gauge in their chim, if so what sort of temps do you see for normal/motorway driving and track day thrashing. I was thinking of using a water temp gauge which only goes to 120c but how often does the oil temp exceed this in a chim.
Thanks.

Not very often, but good fun when you do (with oil cooler, anyway)...

Normal running motorway mine shows 70/80 degrees, trackdays 130+,trackdays no front plate 100/110, these are all with an oil cooler fitted. I'm going to try and re-site the cooler to get a better air flow through it.

Large holes in the undertray was my solution (3 x 55mm in a row), dif the same at the otherside for the airfilter (+ shrouding/ducts). I have seen later cars with (I presume factory fit) coolers & they have large holes in the undertray. I cant take credit ~ I just copied what I saw.

I run one, tapped off the sump plug (maybe not ideal)... 50 - 60 degC normal road use, 80 - 90 thrashing and traffic (esp in armer weather), no oil cooler (and clearly no need of one). Time to get oil up to any temp is an eye-opener too!

Same as me, sender in sump plug, 50-60 normal driving, up to 80-90 motorway. Never seen it above that, though not done a track day since fitting it. Time for oil to get warm is a shocker. I find oil temps generally drop in start/stop traffic even when water temp rises.

I considered a water/oil "cooler" just to get oil up to temp quicker, not for cooling reasons. Haven't done it yet due to financial constraints!

The water temp guage and sender are fine unless you do a lot if track work.
