OWW!, Damn TVR Headlights
Discussion
Noticed my nearside sidelight bulb wasnt working properly, so decided to check it,
not being one to take the 'easy' route,
i decided against jacking the car, removing the wheel, cutting out the access panel, modifying, mastiking the accesspanel back, replacing wheel etc...
instead, i decided, like last time, to contort myself thru the front grill...
success, light changed, then i drove up north, to visit a m8 and goto alton towers, only to get there, and discover, that whilst my sidelight bulb works fine, i seem to have knocked the headlight connector block off
ok, same process, lie on floor, contort arm up around, ouch, bit further, ouch, just up there.. ouch
eventually, I discovered a far easier way, which I shall now share with those of you who prefer not to cut open the cars...
How To access the Nearside Light Cluster with comparative ease (offside is v.v.easy to get to anyway)
1) Remove number plate
2) Remove jubilee clips on air filter, and ajoining flexihose (2 clips either side of a junction piece)
3) Reroute felix hose to underneath alarm siren
4) sit down with legs facing nearside, about level with where numberplate used to be
5) feed arm/hand thru the gaps, and feel round to lights, should be significantly easier than trying with pipes in situ.
6) whilst its off, clean the air filter .. its amasing how dirty it gets
I wish i had learnt this before i tried to do it pipes in place!
;(

If taking a wheel off is beyond you, then you should probably get a dealer to change the bulb
JamieBeeston said:I have the hatches, but they are sealed up, and I dont like the idea of 'cutting' them out, coupled with the realistic need to remove the wheel to do this.
RCA said: Thanks but don't have that problem!!!, already have little hatches in wheel arch!!!
sorry

sorry
cheeky monkey.
its a PITA, to replace one bulb, I concientiously object, to removing a wheel, AND cutting into the body, just to change a bulb, its wrong,, its... Audi TT!!
And this way, you dont have to
but it involves sharp blades, and my baby
Its a psychological thing
and my way takes 5 mins, :P
but doesnt give the extra bonuses you mentioned
and my new way doesnt hurt now
oh, and I dont have jacks :P and have a sloped driveway.
on a related issue, whats th ebest way, short of paying my local kwik fit £40, to get the car ramped up.
I v.much doubt it will make it up the usual car ramps..
and i dont relish being under it on a few garage jacks..
and 4x axel stands means buying 4x axel stands, and a jack ;P
