anyone know of a good 5.0 chimaera engine?

I recently sold my 5.0 chimaera to a friend but only 2 weeks after picking it up he's managed to break the crank! this means engine out and complete re-build which is gonna cost a few quid. Would anyone by any chance know of a 2nd hand 5.0 engine for sale? Or any suggestions where I could try?

Try Richard Smith at Dulford Automotive changed my 4.0 for a 4.6 Dulford "Special" last year!

how do you break the crank! is this common for 5's should i drive like "driving miss dasiy" in future.

Thanks for all your suggestions, will phone around and see what I can find. Dont know how he managed to break the crank, all I can think is that the engine had a lot of upgrades and the crank couldnt take the extra power. Thats my excuse anyway!

Understand a broken crank on the 5l version is not uncommon. Apparently there is not a lot of metal left around the journals coupled with the fact that it was balanced using the flywheel and front pulley. My guess is that sometimes when engine is faffed with the wrong front pulley can go back on the balance is wrong. I suspect that is why mine snapped a few miles after going to a “tuner”

I spoke to bell hill garage in Bath they want £4000 for a 5.0!!!!! Cheaper to buy from a tuner. You can make me an offer for my engine if you want?? Just taken out of my Griff.

As previously stated I also cant recommend Jamie at Castle Race Engines highly enough. He did have a spare 5 litre kicking about cos I had it in my Chimp for a couple of weeks whilst waiting for a new 5.3 ! However why not go the whole hog and stick the aforementioned 5.3 in it,you wont regret it and itl be worth every penny.... believe me !!
