Even once car has warmed up am getting rough idling when stationary and then car is trying to cut out when stalling. Today cut out just as pulled onto driveway. Made a few checks and then re-started car after 10 minutes and problem seemed to have resolved. Have already cleaned stepper motor which seemed to help a bit but not completely fix the problem. Does anyone have any other ideas as to what the problem may be?

Check the trigger inside the distributor cap (be very careful!) looks like a cog with 8 points to it. Had the same problem in my car and in the end 2 or 3 of the points were corroded and needed cleaned. Obviously tried all the use stuff first i.e. cleaned the stepper and butterfly etc and changed the leads and plugs inc. shrouds.

worked for me!

Neil.

New plug extenders and new leads did it for me.

Air leaks to plenum area (& vac pipes..), AFM connections, speed sensor to ecu??

Are you saying it stalls when you hit the clutch?

How long since it was last serviced, how does the tacho react when the problem occurs (does it still match the engine revs, or does it dip?), did the problem come on suddenly or gradually?

Had the car serviced October with a 12 000 mile service. Problem started during the London Thunder towards the end of the day. It has improved a lot with cleaning the stepper but still not totally happy. Will try some of your suggestions. Cheers guys
