Got a couple of pads cracked on my rockers, going to replace both sides with new shafts as well, should I replace the pushrods at the same time or is this only advisable in together with new lifters? Worth going for steel rockers? Used original alloy ones last time I replaced a set on my 500 but it seems steel sets cost the same and will avoid the problem of pad break-up I would imagine, thoughts? (93/4.3 Chim)

Although in an ideal worlds its not good to mix and match old and new parts, Id suggest to very lightly take the gloss of the end of the pushrods with 1000 - 1200 grade wet and dry paper soaked with a bit of oil. This will break the surface up enough to allow it to bed back into the new rocker arm, a bit like glaze busting the cylinder bore. Its certainly nothing like as critical as the wear pattern between cam and follower. As for steel rockers, tougher but also heavier, increasing the load on pushrods and cam followers at higher RPM.
