Removal of alarm
Discussion
Last night was the final straw. My alarm has been going off for no apparent reason, so I left the car unlocked last night and at 1.30 in the morning the alarm went off and would not stop even when I alarmed and unalarmed it. So, I ripped off the siren and smashed it open to stop the racket. Is it ok for me just to insulate up the wires from the siren or do I need to remove the whole alarm? Everything else works after removal of the siren such as immobiliser and central locking and it runs fine. will my battery go flat?

I had exactly the same thing with mine last year - happened around 1am so some very unhappy neighbours. I ended up driving in my PJs to a local industrial Estate with my spanners to remove it, just fortunate no police turned up as would have been an interesting one to explain away. It happens when the internal battery in the siren goes - you can shut down the whole car and it still won't stop.
Removed mine and have just left it as a new siren is a PITA to fit (can't get the original connectors anymore), the car is still immbollised etc just no siren. I asked the advice of Carl Baker who said it'd make no difference to the way the alarm operated except for the obvious.
