Hi
Could anybody tell me what starter motor is used on a chim? It is very slow starting after being stowed away for the winter. I have charged the battery and had it checked, however the SM seems wery slow/weak.
Thanks
Carl

Check there is a good earth and power supply to it - power cable, earth straps etc. To test the earth you can by pass straps/cables with a jump lead. A GOOD jump lead from the negative battery terminal to a proper connection on the engine would be ok, the nearer to the starter the better. Careful what you touch with the jump lead.

starters varied from begining to end of production as engine did(serpentine/non serpentine)theyre all
landrover/rangerover v8 though so nowt special here.if your going to replace i would strongly recomend a new one rather than re-con as they really take some stick from the heat as well as actually stating.life expectancy is low.got through 4 re-cons in as many months all supplied by well known specialist with good reputation,so id never buy a re-con again.im sure others have had better luck mind.

Be careful with the Landrover/range rover link as they fitted a wide range of units and only one fits the TVR because of the proximity to the exhaust manifold. The problem is that the variations all have the same land rover part number so it is a lottery over which you will get.

The cheapest way is to gte an exchange and fit a starter motor heat shield.
