Spring rate for Nitron shocks
Discussion
I am planning to fit Nitron shock and Eibach spring to my 96 Chim 500. According to Nitron site, it says the standard spring rates are 325lb/" front and 250lb/" rear.
Does this apply to the 500 with more torque than the others. Has any other 500 owner used this setting. My mechanic suggested using stiffer springs to reduce the transfer of weight (front rising and rear dipping) under heavy accerations.
Any one has any ideas or experience on this? Any help is very much appreciated.

I personally found that 300 rear, and 375 front suit the nitrons best on my fast road Griff, but it will always come down to personal preference at the end of the day,so you cant necesarily go on what anyone tells you!Does this apply to the 500 with more torque than the others. I have the standard Nitrons & spring rates as supplied on my Griffith 500.They are a big improvement on the standard TVR dampers.Unless you want a car heavily biased towards track /motorsport use then I would be wary of increasing the spring rates as the car would lose the ride quality and driveability in the wet for normal use. Nitrons are only half the story, the correct set up with corner weighting and geometry makes the big difference. My car was set up by Topcats and I was very impressed with the results. Hope this proves helpfull.
Thanks blue flame. As i live in Hong Kong, there are such luxury as tracks. Hoverver, I do drive it very fast (faster than what I could do in the UK)in the equivalent of B roads in the UK. I guess the standard setting is probably good stiff enough. By the way, do you know the standard spring rate on a factory Griff 500 or Chim 500. I guess I do not need to go any stiffer than that!
