My courtesy light only works if i selct it on manually. it wont come on if i unlock/lock/open the doors...i'm sure it should.

I have 12v at the bulb as i've tested it and it works on one setting but not the other.......in short, is it the relay?

Check out your door microswitch on lower edge of door, if thats got a bad contact then I think your alarm wouldnt sense the door opening either if it needed to. Oh dear did I just mention Alarm.......:-)

Mine is the same, but who needs it, not sure its going to be of much use with the roof off :-)

Mine was like that, replaced the relay on the fuse board and job done...a light that comes on when doors are opened and goes off a few seconds after you shut the door. 20odd quid well spent! yikes

Dependent upon the alarm and central locking system, one of the wires to the door switch (white/purple, I think) should be at +12V. Opening the door closes the switch and drops this signal line to 0V.

But the chief suspect would be the interior light delay relay, as mentioned by someone else.

I leave mine in the permanently off position. It's one less thing likely to run down the battery!

Both my Chimaeras suffered from this intermittently. In each case it was a sloppy (worn) switch on the light itself.
