...so I gets back from NY after 10 months desperate to have a blast in the TVR. Car has been started every weekend, and when I started it this weekend it was fine. I let it warm up and then I set off up the road, got to the end of the road and it starts misfiring, even at idle.

It's popping in the exhaust too, you give it mroe throttle and it pops louder as if there is unburnt fuel.

Takes all plugs out, some were caked in oil and others just in carbon. Cleans them up and fires it up again, same misfire. Looks behind the car and there is water and maybe oil or water/carbon mix all over the floor from exhausts.

Checked fuses, all O.K.

What does this sound like? My guess is a broken valve spring which has damaged the oil seal, which is letting in oil to the cylinder.

Any help gratefully received!

Cheers.

Any sign of water in oil emulsion inside the filler cap? Maybe a head gasket? Sounds like a problem you could do without after returning home from a long stint overseas.

Hope you track it down and get it sorted.
