My car leaks water, lots of ours do. I put my car in my wifes mums garage in October, for the best I thought for the winter. A month ago I went back to check on the car, what do I find? Mould, and lots of it. An inch of green slime on the steering wheel, and carpets wrecked. My inlaw thought it was a steering wheel cover! So, I decide to clean thoroughly etc.... blah blah blah... this does the trick, but, the carpets I bought from coverdale last year, and never got round to fitting, are still in my garage. Hence my problem, and I am cutting a long story short.

I took my beloved motor to Swansea Car Sales, in Whittle-Le-Woods, Chorley, Lancashire, and the new carpets to be fitted, the owner of Swansea Car Sales told me 2 days to sort it out, MOT to boot. 3 week later my car is in pieces in a shed around the back of the garage, no work done, and every time I ask him what the problem is, he gives me bull!

I am dreaming about this now, and my pride and joy is being treat with contempt, with no progress made. I am at my witts end, and I just want some advice on what you would do given the same set of circumstance.

There are no seats in the car, it is in a "Valeting" area of the garage, that is totally inaccesible, I just feel like crying. Help appreciated please.

really tough one this; been there, done that. However, when I've been in this situation it's usually because the garage is waiting for parts, whereas it sounds like yours is a labour-only job.

Are you dealing in person, or via phone/email?

Search on www.yell.com for 'car trimmer' in Preston. It returns four results, three in Preston and one in Southport. Ask if they can do the job, then go back to the guy with the car and tell him to put the driver's seat back in and drive it away.

If the car can't be driven, rent a trailer from Barlow Trailers at Ulnes Walton (Leyland) and trailer it away.

W*n*e*s!!! I'd give them two days to sort it out and threaten them with - going to the local paper, trading standards and civil court proceedings if they don't.

Hate it when garages take advantage!!!! Grrrr!

I think I'd want to get the car out of there. If they are being so awkward before they even start the job, what are they going to be like once they have done the job. e.g. What if they damage the bodywork and don't own up?

Yep, try to take it somewhere else.

Best of luck.

Think the consensus is about right. GET IT OUT OF THERE.

Then they might demand you pay for the time already spent on it, then it is time for the trading standards stuff.

Whatever you do decide to do, good luck. Not a situation anyone wants to be in.

You can either agree with him a specified time to get it finish all in black and white or better still don't leave it there. Until you get the car out of there he got you over a barrel.

I would try to get it out, if no firther stuff is being done or garage has good reason and then give Automedon a call........the`ll collect the car for you if you need them to. I live in Chorley, dont know the garage.....in the past Ive used a garage in Brinscall for previous cars and also used a guy nearish the town centre on Botany Brow, specialises in Saabs....both are very small but have had good service/honesty from both in the past...dont know if they cater for interiors.

Hope you get sorted!

Dave.

This is the garage where i bought my car from, they were supposed to sort a few things out on the car before i picked it up but didn't. They obviously didn't know about the 100 amp fuse as the car broke down on the way home due to it, they new there was a charging problem a they had had the alternator checked!
I got the impression they didn't know a great deal about TVR's and definatly wouldn't take mine back there.
