Has anyone fitted Cherry bombs themselves? I would like to get this done, but seeing that it appears only Offords do this mod and I'm about 250 miles from them, I'd be interested to know if anyone has done this themselves. Sleeving is another possibility, but cherries get such good press! My MIG is waiting.....

Should be a piece of cake if you can weld. Just need to find the right size.

What size pipe do you use to replace the perforated pipe when keeping the silencer box?

52mm...thats the size that goes into the box and that the size that comes out....

But seriously consider sleeving...
cut the box out = 10 minutes and the loss of about 5kg of redundant stainless...!!!
Cutting the box open then cutting the tubes out takes a lot longer plus you cant wweld all the way around the tubes.

Anyone know where to source some 52mm perf tube? Actually want to remove my bombs and revert to a more silenced set up (or maybe supplement the bombs with some perf if there's space)... just a bit too loud with no cats evil

I have to park in a multi-storey loads and the trail of wailing car alarms after I park up is getting silly hehe

I have cherry bombs in mine and was wondering what I would need to do to tone the volume down a tad and get a bassier note ( a bit more of the old V8 wuffle back )...?

If you remove the box completely, does it not make the car sound a bit metallic and tinny? I only ask because I've been told that not replacing that wadding can have this effect when sleeving.

Definately not tinny or metallic...if you remove the wadding in the box and sleve it you will get some ech or resonance from the stainless sheet that makes up the box....with straight thru pipes you wont get this...you just get a very loud sound and when you hit about 4k revs it makes one hell of a scream!!!

just for the record there is an ebay shop called crazy stainless or similar and they do 5mm perforated stainless pipe...

Do you regret having it done? I'm thinking about it myself as I think the standard noise is a bit too boomy and not throaty enough, but I don't want it to lack bass either.....

Regret - no..... but it is VERY loud and pops and crackles all the time - my perfect exhaust would retain the pops etc but be a little bassier and a tiny bit quieter...

i have a straight thru and the last time i had a DB meter with me i left it switched on in the passenger seat...roof up and it hit just over 90 db...standing behind the car it was hitting 120db...cherry bombs was hitting 117 and standard hit 110...so yes it IS loud inside!!!
