i'm starting to loose heart with my car, after my £1200 bill(i had to stop them at £1200 eek ) at offord and my ongoing steering issue today been on a 100 mile cruise and my oil pressure guage has gone into overdrive 90psi at idle LOL i wish!

and now i'm also getting a whiring type noise when i turn the wheel

i should image the oil pressure thing is just the sender? anyone point me in the right direction for one?

any ideas on the steering noise? i guess the pump is on its way out?

Try clevor Trevor or tvr car parts for the right sender.Have you checked the level for the pas fluid? Why was your service bill £1200!yikes

Oil pressure problem looks like the sender unit, cheap and easy to fit. Whirring noise from power steering is usually lack of fluid in the reservoir which then fills the system with air, top the reservoir up and go out for a drive, the air will gradually be expelled. Don't loose heart with her, she just needs love. Chims are the cheapest of cars to run, nearly all of the engine parts can be obtained from your local factors and most of the other parts can aswell. Have a look at the www.chimaerapages.com for parts info.

Yup - don't loose heart! Once you're on top of a few niggles and know your way round a few things like the PAS you'll forget you ever had doubts for the sheer pleasure every time you get in her!

just because it was serviced doesnt mean the oil was done...(definately not having a go at anyones work) just saying it could have been easily over looked.

The amount of hastle i had with mine when i brought it was unbelievable (check profile) and the work i did to get it in a roadworthy or MOT'able state would have cost a fortune from a TVR or Indie garage and the car was sold with a new MOT. I had the bonnet up every night for about 3 months trying to get it running right and now i have i have got to strip it down and replace the oputriggers...would i change it? Would i hell...best thing i have ever been ripped off with!!!

Just had a look in the Bible, says graunching noise can occur if air gets into the fluid.
Are you sure there are no slight leaks that could allow this to happen.
I wonder whether new fluid might cure it?
Wynns used to sell an automatic transmission conditioner that also was recommended for quieting down power steering pumps. I don't know if this is still made as it was many years ago

Check the PAS pipes are not kinked/pinched thus not allowing the full flow of oil to get to the pump.
