Big thanks for making my life better!!
Discussion
Just like to say a massive thanks to all who asurred me a few months back that buying a chim was was the right thing to do..even the guy who laughed at my 7 grand buget..
Got myself a 96 4.0hc with 50k on the clock, 2 previous owners and fsh for just a tab over 5 thousand.
Needed clutch and new hood so off the road for the first week while i did the clutch(unexpectably easier than i thought) and stuck new hood on her(little bit more tricky).
Sanded and hammerited chassis at the same time knowing the importance of keeping the dreaded rust at bay. And the wicked side on me convinced myself to sleeve the silencer, awsome, like taking the orchestra out of the potting shed, but thinking maybe should have only sleeved half or three quaurters now.
Been using her daily now for 4 moths and still i get a huge smile and excitment in my belly every time that lump kicks into life, you can keep your euro boxes it a chim life for me xxxxxx
Thanks again..
Andy

Hi Andy,
Sounds like you got yourself a good deal there for 5 grand, lets hope so.
There's some good guys on here that know their stuff and there is always someone who will have the answer to your problem.
Had mine now for just over 12 months and I use it everyday for going to work and back.
Never missed a beat and still makes me smile when I start her up in the morning.
I was thinking about sleeving the zorst or may be cherry bombs but already set off three car alarms in the first 4oo yards of our main road
I wonder what you paid for your new hood as mine has rotten stitching and I've already sewn the rear window back in once, and the velcro bits on the side of the hood are coming away from the roof where the stitching is starting to fail. To many roof down days recently
Here's hoping for some sunshine this weekend.
Cheers
Paul.

Yeah reckon i got pretty good deal, the guy i bought it of lived about 300 miles from any kind of civilization, never forget that drive back on twisty dark soaked roads with kamikaze shhep every where..
Hood cost me just over 300, but really quite a fiddly job and time consuming getting right. Definatly try to get yourself a good second man to help.
Put the front end on a set of normal car ramps and then jacked up the back till it was level and that gave me enough room to do the clutch, split box and bell housing makes it so much easier, i learned the hard way. Would recomend taking inside interior of to get to the linkage, tried for hours doing in from underside then got right arsed with it and went to pub.
