I love the Chim and although I don't own one at the moment, that will be fixed at some point in the near future! The question is this, how fast are they? Compared to cars that I have experienced:

1) STi
2) E46 M3 CSL
3) EVO 5

could the 500 keep pace with the above?

cheers,

Zig

In a straight line? - no problem
On the bends? - depends on the drivers.

It wouldn't leave it for dead, but yes, a 500 should just about have the edge ... and of course, the M3 will be limited at 155

Me also, i have had all 3 of them have a go, and the Evo was a 7/8, but all to no avail.

The Chim would have the GRUNT to initially pull away but give me a race track, an M3 CSL and a Chim 500 and say post the fastest time and I would take the M3.

I have driven both and dont own either so I feel that is an unbiased response.

The Chim would FEEL much faster on the road and would sound lovely, although the CSL at full chat is quite thrilling

The real point here is not the out and out speed versus any other car - it's the environment you are in that is created by your TVR when you are out driving.

My 400 could probably be easily taken by any Evo or Scooby or M3 but they don't feel like mine, sound like mine, possess me like mine - when in my Chim, I have a very different approach to driving - even traffic queues on the M3 are there simply to allow me more time in the car and to allow others the priviledge of queueing along side!!

Never mind the speed, just feel the presence!

HI ALL i sold my 500 chim a year ago and bought my self a 3 door sierra cosworth and i would have to say it would blow the doors of any chim 500 450 400.I FOUND THEY ARE TOTALLY OVER RATED and i guarantee if you put them on the rollers they put out nothing like what tvr states, but haveing said that they do sound nice

Gentlemen, shame on you - these are different things entirely as you well know!

Getting more power out of my RV8 has absolutely nothing to do with beating/racing Evos or Scoobys or even the daughter's Saxo - I am simply enlarging my Chimaera's 'envelope'

I am mortified you should suggest as much!

No, really, it will. You only have to look at the torque and power-to-weight.

And in the real world, yes also.

Oh, OK rolleyes ..... yes the power output is totally over the top but the power to weight is still pretty good and makes it feel a tad quicker than most things

Sorry...don't believe you. My brother-in-law had a 3 door sierra cosworth and it was...well...ordinary by todays standards and certainly wouldn't stand up to a 'good' 5L Chim.

Your 5L Chim must have have lost some horses along the way.

Here's the specs for a cosworth: http://thefordsierra.tripod.com/id4.h

0-60 in 6.6, 6.4 or 6.1 seconds depending on model, top speed of 150.

Can't see it seriously bothering a GOOD 5L.

THE SIERRA by todays is slow but its 21 years old and if you buy one for say 7000, 3500 for a engine build total 10500 you can have well over 350bhp.mine is running a dyno proven 452 bhp 406 ft lb of torque and it still cost me less than me 500.dont get me wrong i liked me chim but it costs a lot to get over 350 bhp
