Help.....Maybe starter motor
Discussion
just picked up my forst TVR today...a chimaera 400, beautiful car but a few minor issues. I has been driving about an hour and stoped at some local shop but when I got back in the car it wouldn't start, electrics come on but final turn of the key that should have started her up nothing, no clicks, no engine noise , no nothing. A friend said it was a starter motor problem but wondered if anyone had any advice or seen the problem before. after about 10-15 mins she started up just fine so left rubbing my head....please help
If she started OK after 10-15 minutes I wouldn't think it's a poroblem with the starter motor itself. Could be the dreaded 'hot start' problem....someone will come along and correct me but I think it's something to do with the heat affecting the connections to the starter motor! There's a hot start kit you can buy - look here www.chimaerapages.com for further useful info. HTH
That wil be the old 'hot start problem' - seems to happen to all of us (well except the lucky few). There is a fix which a number have tried, myself included. David Beer aka Modwise provides a kit that resolves this issue - you can do a search as this has been covered before. I fitted the hot start 'fix' - and haven't had a problem in about three years now. Was a bit embarassing at the petrol stn though......
