...or have prices for ignition modules (STC1856 i think is the number) almost doubled in price over winter? I'm struggling to find somewhere selling them for less than £100. Any ideas, cos at that sort of money I can see me swapping to an MSD unit.

Iain

You are probably correct Dad. I think there is some wiring adaptation required.. but it may be just if you want to remote the earlier version tho (Lucas did a kit with the required adaption IIRC)

Just a quickie, hopefully.
On the back of the thread in the initial post, if I was to swap to an MSD 6AL unit, would I have to keep an ignition amplifier or could I plumb straight from the two wires from the dizzy straight into the MSD box?

I fitted the 6AL to mine and it works very well. I did have to disconnect the amplier and added a MSD Tach Adaptor so it will work with the fuel injection.

If you find one that works ok please let me know... i've bought 2 now and the garage has said the're BOTH faulty.. one was an intermoto part £18 which wouldn't even fire the car up and the other one directly from Lucas part no DAB118 with the plug conversion kit for £41. I'm not sure why most TVR outlets are charging near a £100 but I'm hoping they may be special in someway!!! I would appreciate your feedback if you have any luck.

PM me your address, I've one at home I believe to be good. I can send it over to use in trouble shooting. If it works send me a couple of beer tokens, I don't need it cos I'm going over to coil packs.

Iain

ETA just seen your profile, is Upton the Upton in Chester as opposed to the other 8 in the country according to Google maps? If so I'll drop it round to you.
