Hi boys and girls, long time lurker, first-time poster! Been an avid reader of this site for 18 months now but due to a long succession of rep-mobiles ( 3 Astras, Honda Accord, Vectra and 7 Mondeos ) had very little to contribute in the way of "car speak".......Until today! idea

Just done what I can only describe as a bit of a "Frazer" and traded in my 17 year old 300zx twin-turbo for.....a......CHIMAERA!!!!! Yay!!!!

O.K. slightly different from a "Frazer" in as much as I have been thinking about it for 18 months off and on, test driven a few ( all dogs ) thought I couldn't find a good one, dismissed the idea, returned to it etc. confused

So today I set off on a 7 hour trip ( expecting the usual disappointment / crappy trade in offer ) only to agree to purchase a 4 litre, Imperial blue, Black leather and dashtop V8 buttock - wobbler! bounce

Only slight problem is I don't collect it for a fortnight due to servicing, valeting and tidying of inevitable stone chips....so any suggestions with what I can do to pass the next 20160 minutes would be great! weeping

So thanks really to everyone who has posted on this forum as many of the hints, tips and potential pitfalls have proved invaluable.....Just hope that I don't have to seek advice too soon!

Before any of those hairy chested Gorillas make any snide comments about golf, I would suggest you buy/beg/steal/borrow yourself a copy of the bible and give it a thumbing. Dont get the paranoia about oil pressure or anything like one of our newcomers did tho

Well, congratulations on your wise choice of transport.

How to spend the next week or two? Book a last minute holiday to the Maldives to take your mind off driving?

Well done chap, welcome to the fold. Congratulations on having the patience to find yourself a well sorted one, and you got the fastest colour too .

I'd spend some time getting in some sleep, 'cos you won't want to once you get the Chim.
Let is know how you get on

First thing on the shopping list! Is there a Chim only bible or do I have to buy the edition which shares its pages with a car whose rear-end looks like a Cavalier thats been rolled and ended up on its roof? evil

Ordinarily that would be a top suggestion but if I continue pacing up and down at the same rate I am at the moment, the poor island would have disappeared through erosion!

DO I LOOK BOVERED???

doing a frazer, scratchchin , i kinda like the sound of that.

well done on your latest aquasision, (is that spelt correctly?), im not a bit jealous, not at all. no, really, well done chuck.
if you dont mind me asking, did you trade in your 300zx, if so, what sort of price did you get? tell me to sod off and mind my own business if you want, or email me if you dont want it broadcasting on here. im only asking as i am looking for somewhere that will give me a half decent price on my swapper.
as it was a 7 hour journey, im guessing that it was somewhere up north?

ps; ENJOY!

Hi Frazer, no problem at all chief. What's your E-Mail address?
