Hiya

Went to my car yesterday and it would not unlock. I notice the alarm LED was not flashing. After getting into the car (i note the alarm did not go off) the Alarm LED went on faintly when i turned the key and the faded from faint to dead.

The car locks from inside, and i have tested the door switches and all is ok there. I have also replaced the batteries on the key fob.

Any ideas or is it justy a dead alarm system?? if so any replacement recommendations.

thanks

How did you get on?

I have just got my new Chim home and it has exactly the same problem. Desperate as it is my only car and I cant leave it unlocked or with the alarm off as I will have no insurance.

No luck - yet - I spoke to Carl see above who was very helpful. I just took off the dash this weekend to expose the alarm and confirm what system it is.

What i think happened is the siren (which never worked) shorted out the alarm system (it got wet when i hit a hidden puddle in the rain). My alarm system and immobilster were not linked hence I can still start the car fine - just no longer lock the doors with the remote. I am hope i can just swap the alarm system out but waiting to speak to Carl again though.

I would give him a call/email he was very helpful. If possible pop the car to see him (not so easy for me I am in Guernsey - but luckily Guernsey is pretty low on car crime and i park in a secure garage)

Let me know how you get on.

Carl did some alarm work for me - did a key conversion and also remapped the meta alarm to give me a remote boot opening facility. He came very well recommended to me and I thoroughly recommend him to you - he is a professional.

The first thing I would do is make sure you have a good earth and permanent power supply to the alarm unit.
