No power to petrol pump
Discussion
Have now owned my Chimaera for a full 10 days without trouble, well that was until last night!
Went for a great day out with the Devon and Cornwall tvrcc, got back put the car in the garage and parked to close to the wall. Being a large man I was unable to get out, so easy; start the car and re-park it.. NO chance
The car was turning over but would not start. It took a while but then I realised there was none of the normal fuel pump whine that you get when you turn the ignition on. After removing the roof to aid my escape I checked the fuses and all seems OK there. Im not a mechanical minded person but is there some thing else I can check??

cant be sure from memory, but i dont think i can always hear the pump on mine.i think if you havent turned off ignition and immobilised then you wont necesarily hear the pump run on attempt to re-start.was it just a hot start problem?or was it difficulty in trying to re start after turning off whilst engine is still in fast idle mode(like choke).this is a well known problem to re-start in these circumstances and usually takes 10mins or so to leave until ok.if so then you might want to try to start it after its been left for some time to cool down completely.the only way of knowing for sure if you have power to the pump is to measure power at the pump terminals itself.-hope this helps-mv
If it's not the fuse or ECU connection try taking off the spade connectors on the fuel pump, it's tucked under the car just forward of the diff on the left hand side. They are just standard spade connectors (Not waterproof - typical TVR) they get wet corrode and stop connecting. Just clean them up and put them back. Worked for me!
Bu$$er ! Just about to join Surrey Run 4 for breakfast and similar symptoms. I wiggled and then removed the solenoid, replaced a couple of fuses, checked the spade connectors on the fuel pump and still nothing
One very sad PHer who had to go without brekkie
I am employing a PHer with some test equipment to have a look and see if we can diagnose the problem (Thanks Denny). I will let you know if we find the problem.

No probs Bob (:mumbles: bloody v8 engined plastic bathtub
) try and get a 12v supply to the fuel pump and see if it spins into life , Black wire with a yellow trace if that doesnt work try a continuity test to check the earth to the chassis , if you still have no luck stop swear at the car and have a fag
, on bob the planners tiv it turned out to be one of the silver relays in the loom to the ECU , i thought it was the alarm/immobiliser playing up as it looked like it had been thrown in at 50 paces by a monkey
