just a couple of questions pls!
Discussion
Hi all, has anyone fitted the Leven Jump start/Charge leads to there car?
. I want to protect myself from a drained battery situation
. or maybe there is a more simple way I haven’t considered yet. I’m about to do some small stuff before getting it ready for the summer including moving the 100A fuse to the engine bay and giving them damn slow electric windows a kick up the arse.
Also , RAC or AA? Im going to LE Mans this year
and i want some cover for that and general UK use. thanks for any help!
p.s. does anyone know what size cable feeds the starter motor?
im a house sparky so im a fish out of water with car electrics.
and one more thing , how do you take the front badge off iv done the rear ( 2 bolts) is it the same for the front? .

Stu,
If you get yerself an accumate charger, there is a cigarette lighter adapter available so you can plug straight into your lighter socket and the battery will be conditioned rather than just charged. As the lighter is not connected via the ignition it works a treat. If you have a look at the TVRMonster site, they were (and still are I think) doing them for 40 bucks including the lighter adapter which is usually another tenner or so. A lot cheaper than most.
My other top tip for the day is if you have Tesco clubcard vouchers, rather than use them in store, they are 4x their face value if you use them for offers. At the mo, they're doing level 2 RAC cover (noramlly £95-100 for a couple) for £32! I'm fairly sure you have cover abroad with the RAC, but I've never really had to look into it.

If you want battery cable to make up a jump lead connection kit you'll need a cable with a minimum CSA of 25mm². Cable specs available here.
Check the connectors to the window motors behind the door speakers. It's a pretty harsh environment in there and they can suffer from moisture, causing a voltage drop. Also, do a search in this forum: I think there's a kit to beef up the wiring to the door but I can't remember exactly what it is/does. It's worth putting silicone spray in the window runners, this can have a dramatic effect.
I use RAC for European cover, but I bought it as an add-on to my UK cover and I drive in Europe frequently in different cars. If you're a TVRCC member, RAC offer a discount.
The front badge has two studs that go straight through the bonnet. They're often behind the heat shield that's glued to the bonnet, so you'll have to peel it back a little bit.

I too use my Tesco points in this way byt with Eurotunnel.
The charge for Eurotunnel for out holiday to france in the summer is much more than the ferry, but using Tesco 1 for 4 points the cost is about the same.
talking around, not a lot of people seem to know about this, Tesco do have a clubcard offers book available in store. Seems a bit daft to just use them at face value to get a bit off the shopping
