How often should the header tank be filled. I filled this to about two thirds full, then did a trip of about 360 miles approx, later checking this was down to about half. I can't see any visible leaks under the car, the oil is fresh and golden, no overheating issues and she runs like a dream.

IME never, unless you have a leak somewhere. The header tank in my 99 Chim finds its level around half way up (near the seam). If I overfill the liquid finds its way out through the cap I think.

Does it drop below 1/4 full ever?

Mine settles about 1/2 full but others (see bible) can be as low as 2" from the bottom of the tank.

As long as there are no leaks and you've bled the air out don't worry (don't forget to have the heater set full on when bleeding). Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't run empty and all should be OK.

It'll probably just settle at a lower level than you expected.

Hi Guys.
Yes it seems to settle itself around halfway, so looks like I may be worrying about nothing I'll just monitor it over the next few runs

Thanks...
