Hi everyone

As the title really... The switch under the wing mirror on the drivers side has died (I've traced the fault to the switch) but I can't figure out how to get it out. Is there a knack to it?

I've taken the glass out and have separated the back of the mirror from the front and can see a nut, but turning the nut turns the whole switch. I'm guessing I need to somehow hold on the switch under the mirror as I turn the nut, but it isn't easy!

Any tips? I'm supposed to be going out in about an hour and I have to say it's not lookng good at the moment

Cheers
Matt

I knew after panicing and posting on here I'd figure it out. I pulled the plastic cover off of the switch and was then able to get a pair of pliers on the rim of the button then I could turn the nut.

Not sure if it would go back together again if I wanted it to, but as I'm putting a new switch on I'm not that bothered!

Andy - sorry for the delay in replying. I went away straight after fixing the switch and have only just thought to check this thread.

I took the original switch to a Maplins shop and looked for the closest thing I could find. I ended up getting a switch with a red button that fits the hole in the mirror. I've been told to try Racing Green for a proper switch which I'll do when I get a chance. I wouldn't recommend the Maplins one unless, like me, it's an emergency.

Matt.
