Travelling slightly over the speed limit, with the roof on, I get a loud whistling noise from the front corner window frames both passenger and driver sides. As I gradually go higher into 3 figures it relly gets annoying.

Any fixes? I have been opening the window slighlty which reduces it but is not ideal. Or is it a case of just put up with it?

Take the roof off ... only real solution I'm afraid. The leading edge of the roof is the usual culprit and, bar covering it with tape, not a lot you can do, (unless you have a definite adjustment error at the top of the windows, which again, is fairly common!)

Try changing the rubber seals that are attached to the roofsides.

I changed them on mine and it improved the quietness no end, but make sure you cut them the right length or you will have gaps and it will be exactly the same.

If your roof is the same as mine then you need to slide the new seals into the slots, which can be a pain in the arse as the rubber seal grips.

I found that putting hairspray on the seal and in the slot made the seal slide into postion very easily and after a while it sets and grips the seal like a glue so they do not move around. But dont worry they can be removed very easily if you need to as they are not actually stuck with glue.(If you see what I mean)

One thought for the wind noise is that the roof does move very slightly left to right when it is first mounted into the front lug and that can mean the seal location varies on either side.

Thanks for the hairspray idea Bunglist - I am replacing my seals when I Renovo the roof in a couple of weeks as the driver's side front 3" is losing its grip in the rail.
If anyone needs to know, i bought them from Clever Trevor and they were only a few quid.

I've heard tell that instead of replacing you can slide some tube inside the seal and it kind of fattens it up and makes a better seal.

scratchchin Pretty sure it was Big Al that said it Oh yes

I get the same thing from the passenger side if the roof is slightly off centre. Taking the roof off, putting back on or even just releasing the tension and moving slightly can get rid of the excess noise.

I say excess 'cos they ain't quiet anyway!

Silicone lubricant spray (from hardware shops for sticking drawers) is also great for making the rubber feel new again.

I've noticed that mine whistles from the gap between the door mirrors and the door frame. If I cover the gap with a coupleof fingers, it stops. I have considered making some gurney flaps to stop it.
