I'm trying to find where the connection is between the fuel pump relay and the red wires on the lambda sensors. I have power at one of them but not at the other so I assume there must be a join or connection somewhere. Does anyone know where this is?? Also is it normal for there to be tape joints on the loom just behind the ecu plug?

Tape will just be to help prtect them from water. I imagine a prev owner had problems.
I don't think there is a direct connection between the lambda & fuel relay. The lambda signal will go to the ecu.

You think wrong. The lambdas are powered from the relay, as is the purge valve IIRC.

OP, I think you will just have to open the loom, I find needlework stitch cutters excellent for removing the wrap & pls use loom tape to redo rather theinsul tape.

Bear in mind there are subtle differences in looms from car to car, however...

The lambdas, pure/carbon canister and fuel pump are all fed from the same relay. If the wiring diagram is to be believed (and on my car it is correct for this circuit) the lambdas get their power from the centre pin on the relay, while the fuel pump and purge canister get their supplies from the outer pin on the relay (its a 5pin non cross over relay), on my loom both wires share the connector in the relay socket.

Hope that helps, if you need a wiring diagram check this thread www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=&t=243015
