engine playing up, any ideas?

its started misfiring under cruiseing load at any RPM, worse at higher RPM. Seems to be alright but maybe slightly down on power on full load. on tickover it also seems to be missing the odd beat...

Im thinking ignition? had a very simular thing before on another RV8 but this was on a points dizzy and it was the points...

anynone got any ideas?

The HT leads on these engines don't last very long due to the under bonnet heat, so it might be worth replacing those. After that I would go for the dizzy cap and rotor, then the coil and lastly the amp.

Check the spark plug extenders are fitted securely. Before I replaced mine, two of them would fall off for a pastime!

just found my vacuum advance unit hanging off my dizzy. its been running the cruise advance all the time... felt so much smoother when i sorted it and reser the ecu! worth checking though if your having smooth running probs.
