I know this has been done to death, but if anyone has any ideas what this might be, i'd be interested to hear.
Today my Chim refused to start. Fuel pump primed, ignition lights on, but nothing at all. AA man checked fuses, relays. Eventually he started it by making a connection with a wire and deduced that I have a problem between the switch and the solenoid.
So with this temp connection made I started the car and drove home. At home I have been able to start it fine several times. The engine wasn't hot when it failed first time - I'd only done about 3 miles, then left it for an hour.

So what does this mean? Is my starter motor on the way out? Connection problems? Do you think it's ok to leave it or should I get it checked or wait and see if it happens again (trying to avoid costly repair bill!).
Is it the sort of thing I could take to a normal local (trusted) garage?

I dont trust alarm/immobilisers; give me a Rottweiler any day

It could equally be your ign switch: check the terminals on the back of it.

This may give a clue whilst left overnight on Friday night, Offords told me it had a flat battery on Saturday morning. AA man said it had the full 12V today (I use an optimiser when it's at home).
