Does anyone know if a 97 P Chim 400 will be ok on 97 RON unleaded? Around the filler cap on my car it stipulate 98 RON but as my local garge is a Total garage and their premium fule is Excellium is was wondering if it'd be ok? If not which petrol stations do 98 RON fuel?

One final question... When I last filled up it seemed to take forever as the petrol pump kept cutting out as if the tank was full (I know it wasn't). Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Yep never had a problem with mine, but I used 98 when I could.

Play with the knozzle position, some fill with no problem some don't!

No idea why: But, if you pull up to to the pump to the left, the filling seems easier.

Yes, mine does this. You have to try a few different nozzle angles to get it right. Second time I filled up, I stuck the nozzle in and pulled the trigger, then watched the display on the pump. Looked back down again when it got to about £8 only to see all the fuel pissing out the filler, down onto the exhausts yikes

Mine does the same as this but what i do is ..............

1. I hold the trigger with my left hand (the hand is backward on the handle)and the pipe up in the air with my right.

2. I don't pull the trigger right in, only half way, it fills up slower but doesn't seem to cut-out so is just as quick.

Put the nozzle in the fuel tank hole and turn the lever fully to the right, it will then drop down an inch or two, and you can fill up at full speed with no splashes. It works!!

Lots of talk about fuel here, I maintain that my 450 runs great on any regular unleaded, Tesco, Sainsbury, Esso, etc. runs great. Sure, I like to put V Power, or other super unleaded in, and defiantly do it for a thrash or track day, have to admit, if the car runs great not sure why I should waist the money...

i have only had my 98 chim for roughly 2 months and have been running it on 97 ron from Total also as I dont have 98+ ron anywhere near me but it al seems fine so far. and I get the same issues as you with the filling up problem which on the first effort scared me a little but I just turn the nozzle 180 degrees and hold the pipe so come in from the drivers side of the car but just hold the triggle in half way.

My 94 400 runs very smoothly on Tesco's 99, lovely around town and cheaper, but if im out for a thrash V-Power imo gives the car a boost in acceleration at the expense of rough idleing!
