Did you check the fuses before changing the relays (& test they were getting juice)?

Hearing the fuel pump buzz is normally a good indicator that these are all OK....

For these "running fine one day / doesn't start the next" situations (and assuming battery condition is good) I would always suspect the immobiliser. Presumably you have tried re- and deactivating the alarm/immobilizer? Is the fuel pump priming when you switch on?

Have you had a look at a plug, they flood very easily....

The Chimaera engine doesn't have a cold start switch.

If I were you I'd confirm you had a spark and fuel at the plugs, if not then you need to trace the fault (or get somebody else to), if you have both then clean plugs would be the next step.

Where do we sign up for these shares in temperature sensors then?

the chimera has a coolant temp sensor, which if faulty, the ecu will base its fuelling on the wrong values, so is a sort of cold start unit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FWIW:
Dont worry about coolant temp and air flow meter sensors - these can all be disconnected and the engine will still fire - not great but it will go. If your car wont start, let alone run, look at basic things like fuel delivery/pressure and correct spark etc. IIRC its like 600rpm before the ECU takes any notice of sensors.

Rough running & idling are very different from no bangs at all....

Fuel pressure and spark but no injectors opening sounds like the a break in the wire from the dizzy to the ecu to tell the ecu the engine is turning and at what rpm. This is a single wire running from the ignition amplifier to the ecu - I forget which pin. Sound like you've got intermittent contact on it.
