At approx 5000 revs the car does not pull as hard. Not exactly a missfire but doesn't sound as sweet if you know what I mean. I will probably change the leads and the dizzy cap, but any other thoughts. Someone said on this forum that the cams wear and the the top end gradually looses out. 68k miles

Was thinking of changing the plug extensions as one has recenly had a habbit of falling off, although appears to be ok now. Think I will change them and the plugs just for peace of mind.
The Cats looked clear when the manifolds were off the other day.
If the cam is to be changed what recommendations have you?.

No it wasn't the cam or anything else serious. The new leads turned up yesterday. On taking off one of the plug extensions I found that the screwed nipple on the plug had worked itself loose and was detached in the extension. The extension still fitted on, but obviously there had to be a gap. Refitted and it runs ans smooth as silky the silkworm. It will even drive in 5th at 1000revs without a fuss. Moral of the story Don't jump to conclusions and check the simple stuff first. Well chuffed.
