I was hoping to find a chimaera for 15k 40,000 miles, P/R reg.
Looking at the classifieds over the last couple of weeks the asking prices seem to shooting up rapidly.
Could anyone comment on how realistic these prices are.
Are they speculative, hoping for the summer season rush?
I assume this happens every summer and so what are the actual prices paid against the 'selling' price.

The prices reflect what the market will stand just like anything else, supply and demand - but as owners its all to easy to talk prices down with stories of some sticking around. When we started looking for a Chimaera just before Christmas, I thought it would be easy to buy in the winter but had those thoughts crushed as we kept missing out on the good ones and had to raise our budget!
These cars aren`t as plentiful as you first think. If you want one badly enough, you may have to dig deeper.

My R Reg one was £15,500 a year ago with 52,500 on the clock.
I recently sold a 97/P, 34k, 4ltr for a shade under 15k. Would probably have got 15.5k if I'd wanted to wait a while but as I'd already found the replacement, wanted a quick sale.
As the new owner will testify, the car was in excellent condition and because of this, it went to the first person to view.
He mentioned he'd looked at a few other cars at similar prices that were basically dogs.

Supply and demand, pure and simple. Can't get them from the factory, lot's of folk still don't trust the AJP six cars, so there will be increasing demand for clean low mileage Chimaeras. Griffs too but there aren't so many about. Prices will firm up, and it's not all seasonal. We don't have bad enough winters any more for that to be entirely true.
