My coil is u/s so I've been looking for a new one. I have been looking at a local company to me and they have two different type's of Bosch coil.
PRC6574 £75.55 & PRC6574P £41.05

Does anyone know what the P stands for? The one without the P sounds a bit expensive to me.

I don't know what the 'P' means, but PRC6574 is the right part number (without the P), but last time I bought one it cost about £40. It does seem to matter that you use the right coil, in the past I've used a generic injection coil to get me home and it ran but wasn't right. Back to the correct part and it was right as rain.

mine is fitted with an intermotor coil part no 11410,
which i believe is just a standard/common electronic ignition coil and should be no more than about £30+vat.

i think PRC6574 etc is the Landrover part number.
i would expect them to made by a manufacturer (like intermotor/bosch/lucas etc)
who would then label them as "Landrover" for Landrover.

ECP do the pukka Bosch coil, intermotor is certainly not a manafacturer that shouts quality or reliability in my history of the motor trade, sorry Benson v8 but thats just my cents worth.

Hi sorry if this is to late, I was just reading through o few pages and 3 hours later I came to this one. I bought a new standard coil exactly like the original equipment, which has lasted 6 years, on Ebay last week for £11.40 +p+p.I was also quoted as much as £156 for the ignition module from two local Randge Rover highway robbers, when Camberly's did the original equpment for £27.83.

Paul the P on the end of the Rimmer Bros (and others)part numbers means that it is a Pattern Part.

i.e. non- original but should work fine.

But for the coil i would maybe stick with the original they get very hot and broken ones are pretty common.

That Daddy, you are certainly entitled to your cents worth, i see from your profile that you really are in the motor trade. (so many people claim to be in the trade) i guess you had a bad experience with intermotor !!!?
Having worked for a few motor factors over the years i have sold intermotor for the last 5 years i have certainly not had any significant problems with them and the 10 years before that, i've sold commercial ignition AND bosch products with a few others thrown in here and there.
i have noticed that the "Big Names" tend to charge more because of there "Big Name".
IMO there is virtualy no difference in quality between them and i would happily fit any of them.
there are some makes out there that i've never heard of and would steer clear of.
also, i was employed by ECP for a while and i will be keeping them on the far end of my barge pole. shoot
