Need something similar doing on my car. There's some corrosion underneath, needs cleaning and painting up, then waxoiling. There is a lot of information on here about how to do it yourself, but it sounds like fairly hard work and if I am honest I think I would prefer to get someone to do it for me. Was up at Automoden at the weekend talking to them, my car is going in there in a few weeks for them to tidy it up at the same time as doing the MOT. They're based in Blackpool, so bit of a trip but not too far (I am in Rossendale).

It's a horrible horrible job. The only way to know it's been done right is to do it yourself - but if you don't fancy it (and I wouldn't blame you) RT Racing in Sheffield get good reports and I believe do fixed price chassis treatments.

I did mine myself over the winter,I just did a quater at a time and it wasnt so bad. It is a dirty job, not difficult, but if you do it youself you know which parts are worse than others, therefore where to keep an eye on. Plus you know its done right. Get a drill with a stubby wire brush and a tin af hammerite. Then have it wax oiled before the winter comes.

Hi,

I have heard about rustmaster and that they sound like they know what they are doing. No personel experience so far.

I have just taken delivery today of my repainted chassis.

Before Xmas it was decided to drop the chassis and repaint myself. I droppped chassis and it became very evident that the door sill supports and outriggers had rusted through. I had the chassis repaired shot blast and resprayed along with all the suspension etc. Very sexy. Whilst the chassis was away I was able to get in and around the under body and start cleaning up. I finished that off with a matt black stone chip protector.

Should look sweet when finished

I used them on my Chim. Very thorough job, only downside I'd comment on is that the treatment is mostly sprayed on and has a habit of getting everywhere - I had to use white spirit or bug and tar remover on the wheels, the bodywork, all the brightwork under the bonnet etc. But the application still looks as if it was done yesterday, and it was actually about 9 months ago now.

in my opinion, its not far off a waste of time, doing such a job on the driveway

You're right really - to do it properly you need the car up on axle stands, all four wheels off and you need to allow couple of weekends to clean all the dirt and rust off, then apply new paint and wax. It's just not worth doing half a job - water/salt will quickly find the bits you missed.
