Centre Console Removal
Discussion
Hi there
I am attempting to remove the centre console from my 1993 Chimera to get the worn leather repaired as its one of the early ones with the door release next to the gearstick that has worn through. I have successfully removed the main part of the console and detached the triangular shaped insert from it, however I am none the wiser as how to remove either the gearknob or the door opener.
Any advice greatly appreciated!

Not quite sure where you have got to...
You need to slacken off the hanbrake cable fully...
The door knob has a lock nut underneath it, loosen this and the knob will screw off.
The gear knob just unscrews, rubber gloves or a rubber grip (like oil filter removal tool etc) enables you to grip it enough to turn.
Take the handbrake handle off.
With careful manouvering you can slide back / tilt (to release front) then jiggle it out.
The middle leather section has a surround that bolts to the console - you may be able to release this from underneath.
